King’s Park Walk
Today we went for a 2 hour plus walk with the girls along the swan river, to kings park and on a direction-less adventure back.
It starts off at the river bank opposite our hostel.
We snap away and head off on our 2km walk along the river.
We walk by a boat house and being typical girls…
we take many many many many photos
and this is a statue of a professional diver. the aussies dress her up every now and then. when we first came she was holding a bicycle, today is some apron thingy, during christmas she is Mrs Santa sometimes with a beer, sometimes with other stuff.
The authorities dont like it, they take it down, but people still continue to swim to her to dress her up. Very interesting and unique!!
then the four of us continue on our road trip down Mounts Bay Road towards King’s Park!
King’s Park is like a park/botanical gardens on top of a hill. We had to climb up the 100 over-very-steep-steps. But the view was just amazing. Over seeing perths CBD, the swan river and other parts.
Such moments are best spent with great friends and company, and tiny teddies to munch on =X
then we went on a adventure through jungle and roads which showed no end, but we still made it out safely!! =)
It was a good 5km walk for us pigs who have been just eating and sleeping only =)
Looking forward to picnic tml in the lawn as we girls gossip about others, xoxo,
and UNI ON MONDAY!!! =)
excitated!!! haha =X
meeting people
i’ve finally got my freezing ass down to type this out =)
other than eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping, internet, chatting, watching friends, sleeping…. major bum i know…
but i’ve been meeting lots of people and taking lots of photos too!! =)
Orientation Day 2 was abit of a tour around the uni and getting advise for major and unit selections, and mixing around with people.
marian, simun and me (all singapreans) sweet girls they are!!
team CANDYFLOSS!!
in our little group of 6, we had a really sweet and ultimately friendly girl from south africa (blonde hair girl), FRANCES is her name.
She’s really so easy to get along with, within 10 minutes we were snuggling up together for warmth in the cold wind.
And the guy with the candy floss, ILKKA, is from New Zealand, he’s one year younger, and i forced him to take a picture with that candy floss =) haha! He was sporting enough.
Met a few others from aus, sweden, korean and all. Had some interesting chats with them!! I love meeting people!! =)
Wednesday was enrolment into subject units and organising your own timetable. *praying for no classes on Friday!!*
This is Winthrop Hall (inside the clock tower building), which looks like the harry potter dining hall.
beautiful long hall, where i will be taking my exams.
Other than that we’ve just been bumming, lazying, sun baking and laying in the green green lawn WHICH YOU OBVIOUSLY CANT DO IN SG, nor climb the nice clean trees.
yes i love to climb trees!!! hahaha
This is one of the few nice people at St Thomas More College (hostel). Greg! funny guy. Actually most of the aussies are REALLY nice people, and Janienne, another lady at the office is such a sweet lady!!
The rest of the students are also pretty friendly and wild party animals. Most of them should be back tomorrow, and the internets gonna slow down like crazy!! But more people to meet!!! So so far we’ve met a couple of singaporeans, iranians, vietnamese and australians.
We went out with a Mauritius guy named Valentin.
He’s like 1.8m plus tall. He went out with us girls and very patiently followed us around while we walked around harbour town, took our FIRST FREE BUS RIDE, and walked around northbridge!! And he treated us to bubble tea!!! =) He’s a nice guy!
Today, we went with the school for a bus tour around the city, burswood (casino area), kings park, cottesloe beach, and fremantle.
On the way to fremantle, pass the Swan River (which is next to my school) we saw a SCHOOL OF DOLPHINS!!!!!!! They were just swimming and we could see them at the surface, with their fins and all!!!
It was so BEAutiful!!!! they are grey dolphins (not like the pink ugly ones in sg) and its just AWESOME that we can see dolphins just a minutes walk away from my uni!!!! where else can you get that? ah… i love it here!!
I love my uni!! UWA!!!
So anyway, we headed to cottesloe beach, one of the popular ones in perth.
and even though it’s winter, FREEZING mad, but there are still mad people SURFING!!!! they looked like penguins waiting for waves to come to surf!! I WANAN SURF TOO!!!
us at cottesloe beach!!! and then we headed to fremantle.
we came upon a shop called Sara’s Lolly Shop!!! super many lollys and stuff there!!! so harry potter bertie botts every flavour thingy…
then we had pizza for lunch!!! super worth the price and taste and quantity, $5 per person for huge family size pizza!!! YUM YUM!!!
look at how huge the pizza is compare to my face!!! =X slurp!!
then we just had chinese dinner with aunty beatrice and others, oh im sick of chinese food already =X!!! hahahahahaha
but craving for chocolate fudge cake though… haha
miss ya peops at home =)
the weekend and orientation
So we went to harbour town (factory outlet shopping mall) and chinatown (northbridge) on saturday.
Met up with dinesh, and he brought us around =)
Had really good Kebabs at Harbour Town and $4 bubble tea at chinatown.
On sunday we tried taking the local bus system, short ride to town (4 bus stops) then we went to Hay Street (mini Orchard Road with alot of shopping centres and shops)
Bus Tickets, valid for 2 hours.
Me in the middle of Hay Street
Walked into City Beach, humongously big outlet for beach wear and surfer stuff
sarah’s nice new chucks without laces (not converse though) but really cool
Great looking haviannas not sold in Singapore. Expensive for flipflops though, price totally paying just for the brand!! hahaha
And today was first day of ORIENTATION!!!
B O R I N G!
it was like mini singapore, all the singaporeans like conquered the entire international student body.
Met like 5 people staying in serangoon and seletar already. So Near!!
Then sarah, I and a few others ran out at 3pm, the last two talks were just redundant and not essential. (typical singaporeans running away from lectures)
On our first day of school some more!!! haha.
But seriously, we didn’t miss anything!! I won’t do that for real classes!!
Anyway, Yvette, Sarah and I then headed to the Matilda Bay, Swan River just beside our school. and SNAP AWAY!!! =)
Love the grass, the sand, the tree, the water and the clear blue skies!!
Oh how I love UWA, lovely campus with old vintage brick buildings, and a few steps away from the most magnificent view and scenary (nothing at all like the SG river)
We love how clean the trees are that we dont mind sitting, standing and even CLIMBING the trees!!
It’s a great place to have a picnic, or just chill with friends, laugh at seagulls, chase after parrots (sarah’s favourite entertainment) and have weird conversations on whether seagulls have webbed feet and where do they keep their feet when they fly…
Say hello!!
Yes we’re weird uni students =X
Orientation Day 2 tml!! Will get to see the local students and other commerce study mates!!! EXCITED!!!
TatA!
it’s freezing cold!!!!
it’s 10 degrees here, but its CRAZILY COLD because of the heavy heavy rain and super crazy strong winds going at 40km/h!!
———————————————————
It’s crazy i tell you!!! Thank God for our safety, good health and good mind so far.
Today Aunty Beatrice’s friends and their two daughters studying in UWA just arrived, but their rented car window got smashed and one bag stolen!! Poor girls!!
It freaked me out a little. Worried about safety and all now!! Pray for me!!
ANYWAY, so a little update since the last time from IKEA!
Wednesday we headed to a Casino at Intercontinental Hotel.
Watched them play with the slots machine. The roulette, black jack table and all look so cool and scary. These people much have too much money!!!
Later on we headed down south to have CHINESE dinner. Food was good!!! =) Yum Yum!! And service EXCELLENT! the minute we came in, 5 waiters were assisting us at our table with the table, the cloth the chairs and everything! Prompt service!
Ice Cream in winter!! SHIOK!! =)
Thursday I did up my bank account and over here everything takes forever!! 10days to get an ATM account. tsk tsk… so this is what we ended up doing while waiting for the parents to settle their banking.
And much photos of ourselves =)
Headed over to Target to walk around and shop.

NOPE!!! not all my stuff ok!!!
And home-sweet-home, or rather room-sweet-room

and of course back to my internet! source of connection with the life back in sg!!

TODAY!!! we headed down to Fremantle, all the cafes and shops. We had the best fish and chips there, HUGE portions

After ordering, they’ll give you a round device to put on your table, once your order is ready the device will sound its alarm. uber cool! but can never happen in SG.
Frementle’s not part of perth, is another city. It’s a Port City. We went into the Fremantle wholesale market to walk around and get some stuff cheap!!

And then was Cold Rock. Ice cream AGAIN in the cold cold freezing winter!

Ice cream was yummy. Check out their nice toilets!!! If only Singapore public toilet was like that!! (above)
Anyway we’ve got to know this guy named Andrew, he’s a medicine student, staying above us, haha and he looks like Harry Potter! Seriously. But he’s really nice and friendly. THEY ALL ARE FRIENDLY COMPARED TO SINGAPOREANS
A singaporean neighbour just came today too, Wendy, staying in our block.. she’s from CJC.
And we met a Malaysian guy called Arthur who’s stayed here 5 years already, Singapore is more his home though and he stays in Serangoon Ave 2 and goes to SFX!! HAHAHA super small world. =)
People are starting to come in soon!!! they’ll be back from WYD soon!! =)
So it’s 9 degrees now, and i want to head to bed!! Brrrrr….. Brrrr…..
M-A-D-N-E-S-S i tell you!!
This is the worst winter Perth has experience. There’s Typhoon, temperature dropping below 0 degrees, rooftop flying off the building, trees falling onto cars, hail, waves crash onto roads and highways!
I tell you the wind is so strong i could hardly walk! I was literally being BLOWN AWAY.

“A pine tree has also brought down power lines at the Mt Lawley ….”
“The Swan Hotel in North Fremantle lost its roof, causing the closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.” -and i was down at Fremantle TODAY!!!!
“The storm also caused a number of traffic lights to be blacked out, causing traffic chaos througout the day.”
NIGHTS!!!
Pray for my safety and survival in this crazy winter =)
